Be Still - Xavier Scruggs

“He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’” — Psalm 46:10

Easier said than done, God. Do you ever argue with God or ever get so angry because He doesn’t seem to be showing His will for you? This happens to me often. I always want Him to either show me a sign or speak to me in a dream. I just want Him to let me know what He wants from me. Sometimes I feel like my prayers aren’t answered; sometimes I ask myself if He is really even listening.

This is when I have to remind myself that I am being selfish. It isn’t about me or the way I feel. My mission is to glorify Him and to live by His commandments, not by my own standards.

The need for Christians to step up to the plate is at an all-time high. However, we have to change the way we think. We can’t be so selfish to forget who is in charge and that nothing happens on our own timing. I find myself sometimes trying to rush God for an answer or a solution, but that isn’t how it works. He has never failed me, so why should I have any doubts about what He is doing in my life? He is moving the atmosphere and shaping it in a way for me to succeed. No one said it would be easy and there are always sacrifices that must be made.

Our Father loves us, and He knows what is best for us. God allows me to understand that faith goes further than anything.

God, allow faith in Your Spirit to keep me motivated to fight the good fight. Please help me to understand that You are leading my life every step of the way. When I want to argue, combat with You, and don’t think You are listening to my prayers, change my focus and my way of thinking. Help me to remember that blessings come in all forms and You are using me for Your good. Amen.
