It’s not just any day, it’s Football Sunday. The culmination of many roads with the same final destination — The Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. It is the collision of opposing forces, made able through sacrifice, faith, and the type of commitment that leaves your mind, body, and spirit bruised, but not broken.
While many of the 105 million anticipated Super Bowl viewers across the nation spent their Saturday night on the town and Sunday morning waking up slow, members of over 1000 churches gathered for an exclusive viewing of Football Sunday. Football Sunday was an in-church video simulcast event uniquely designed for community outreach and to inspire the faithful with an inside look into the Super Bowl.
Football Sunday invites viewers to engage with stories from the lives of athletes, all pressing toward the goal found in John 3:30 — “He must increase, and I must decrease”
Now that today’s battle between the Patriots and the Seahawks is over, a special version of Football Sunday is available here at The Increase. If you have felt The Increase in your life, share it freely, and tell a friend to engage with the inspirational stories of athletes touched by Jesus Christ.
“I’ve been hoping that someone would organize all the guys and do something like this. I’m excited to take part. I’m praying that the story of what God has done and is doing in the lives of NFL players will resonate with people everywhere, and they’ll see that we all need Jesus, and we all have influence, no matter who we are or what we do for a living.” —Brandon Marshall
“Football Sunday is a completely unique thing, and I’m really glad to be part of it. I think it has the potential to be a first step for many people finding their way to Jesus, and I think it’s a great opportunity for the local church to use the Super Bowl instead of trying to compete with it. “ —Matt Hasselbeck
