Increase Week in Review 11/7-11/11

Want to catch up on the latest articles by the pro’s from the past week? Here’s what they had to say:

Monday Former Major League pitcher Scott Linebrink wondered what was next for him after the game. He found fulfillment in a mission much greater than his own:

“Water is a great metaphor for Jesus’ salvation but it’s also a great practical need that we all have. Our lives depend on physical water, which we can provide to these people. In the same way, our souls are dependent on the living water that is found in Jesus Christ. That message and the results that come from it are incalculable.”

Tuesday New York Jets running back Matt Forte has a passion for serving the underprivileged youth. He shares how God has used his story to become his ministry:

“I’ve always had a heart for underprivileged kids. As I’ve grown older, I’ve realized how much I would have appreciated having a professional athlete—someone I really looked up to—hang out with me and mentor me when I was younger. That would have been so valuable to me during those crucial years. As I put myself in the shoes of today’s young people, I know that I have the opportunity to impact them by choosing to invest in their lives.”

Wednesday We talked with Tampa Bay Rays right fielder Steven Souza about his faith journey, how he’s living in the increase of Christ, and the mentors that have impacted his life:

“Eventually God took me on a journey to the Big Leagues, which I didn’t expect. I found that I was no longer driven by the expectations of the world, instead, I was driven by the motivation to glorify Christ in everything I did. This freedom allowed my full talent to come out on a daily basis.”

Thursday PAO’s Director of Baseball Ministry Eddie Taubensee shares how he has discovered Jesus Christ to be so much more:

“I have learned that He is so much more than what I can personally comprehend—this is good news! Because the times in my life when I’ve been most complacent in my relationship with Christ are the times when I think I know everything about Him.”

Friday Baltimore Ravens tight end Benjamin Watson shares the blessings and challenges that He and Kirsten face when homeschooling their children:

“This style allows us to tailor our children’s education to what we think is important. It also challenges Kirsten and me to memorize Scripture. There’s a lot of strength and power in memorizing Scripture and praying with your kids. This is a part of our everyday routine and I’m thankful for the time that we can spend doing this together.”
