Increase Week in Review 12/12-12/16

Want to catch up on the latest articles by the pro’s from the past week? Here’s what they had to say:

Monday Cincinnati Reds pitcher JJ Hoover reflected on a time when God showed His providence at just the right moment, in just the right place:

“As we kept our eyes focused on God’s plan for us, continually praying for peace and discernment, we were able to submit our plans and hopes to the Lord and trust that He had a greater plan for our future than we did. We simply prayed that God would show us how, when, and where He wanted us to do His will. To then sit back and watch God go to work was incredible.”

Tuesday Former NFL linebacker Don Davis shared both the gift and challenge of parenting:

“There is no perfect parent and there is no foolproof method when it comes to raising children. I do believe, however, with lots of prayer, patience, and persistence, no matter how difficult our children are to raise, one day the Lord will say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant” to those who stay faithful in the course.”

Wednesday NFL fullback Tyler Clutts shares why his excitement and anticipation for this Christmas season has reached a whole new level:

“This holiday season looks a little different for us than it normally would. This year we might be spending Christ’s birthday celebration in the holiday. As we enjoy the holiday festivities this season, we are also eagerly anticipating the birth of our twins. Looking at our fireplace and seeing six stockings instead of four, I know that this Christmas is going to be the best one we’ve ever had.”

Thursday New York Jets running back Matt Forte shared how he enjoys his favorite holiday traditions while balancing life in the NFL:

“Experiencing the magic of Christmas through the eyes of my kids is really fun, but I love Christmas most of all because of the real reason for the season—the coming of Jesus Christ. It’s not about getting gifts but about giving, just as Christ gave His life for us. It’s about understanding Jesus’ birth and celebrating how thankful we are that God sent His only Son for us.”

Friday Tampa Bay Rays right fielder Steven Souza shared how his perspective changed when he shared the Gospel with those who had never heard the name of Jesus before:

“There aren’t many places where you can go today to feel in complete dependence on God, but that’s exactly what we experienced when we went to the Philippines. There we had the unique opportunity to share the Gospel message with people who had never heard it before and had no way to access the Bible’s truths. As we watched the overwhelming sense of joy that these people had once they heard this message for the first time, we saw the power of the Gospel firsthand.”
