Increase Week in Review 3/13-3/17

Want to catch up on the latest articles by the pros from the past week? Here’s what they had to say:

Monday we talked with Miami Marlins pitcher Adam Conley about how he’s living in the increase of Christ, his faith journey, and the mentors that have impacted his life. Here’s what he had to say:

“The things of this world that I had thought would bring my security, comfort, and fame failed me. The Bible says that the message of the cross is foolishness to the world, but I am no longer of the world’s kingdom. I chose to be part of another kingdom that both is now and is to come, and with that choice is the security of knowing I will be spending eternity in paradise with my Creator.”

Tuesday New York Jets running back Matt Forte talked about setting a precedent to walk in the steps of Christ:

“It’s important for me that my kids see me as a servant leader. When I was growing up, I imitated my dad—I did what he did and said what he said. It’s up to me to set a precedent for my own kids to walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, and the best way to do that is to walk in His steps myself.”

Wednesday We watched former NFL kicker Todd Peterson tell us how he used to find his identity and worth solely in his performance until he found true peace and purpose in his life with Christ.

“There an old line of thought in pro sports that you play until you rip the jersey off your back. I mean, who in the world would leave the game before they had to? I just had something going on in my heart that made me think, ‘I don’t think that’s how it’s going to go down…’”

Thursday Former Major League pitcher Scott Linebrink talked about facing direct opposition to Christianity:

“As we navigate through this life, we must constantly be on guard against forces of darkness that are real and powerful. Let us not be deceived into thinking we live in safe places because we don’t see tangible examples of evil right in front of us.”

Friday Former MLB pitcher Dave Dravecky shared about his mountaintop experience on the mound:

“We’ve all had a mountaintop experience. These moments are extremely important for us to have because they are beautiful reminders of how awesome our God is. It’s on the mountaintop that we find ourselves on our knees in awe of Him.”
